And so I said...

"Hello. Welcome home. Come inside. I've been waiting up for you."

(A fire is gently crackling in the corner of the room)

"Oscar's been warming up your chair while you were out."

(an overweight, yet adorable black cat slowly lumbers down to the rough wooden plank floor. You sit down and sink into the chair, the fire filling the room with dim golden light and cheek soothing warmth.)

"And now.... It's story time."

-------------------------

"One night I was embarking on my usual destinationless scouring of the series of tubes and had an idea.

I hopped onto Twitter. It was 8:25 in the evening and I typed:

~Who wants their own song? Written only about you? @ reply before 9PM EST, I'll write, record, and send it to you. Free. Feeling creative~

This album is the result.

Now just close your eyes and let's go be somewhere for a while."

(I walk across the room to an old dusty turntable)

"Ummm... sorry. For some reason I can't get this to start. The blizzard must have knocked out the power. Would you mind pushing that triangle up there on the screen?"

(the music starts)

"..... Good......Now listen..."

-----------------------------------------

Further notes:

I decided to release the songs as they're finished, so this album will be free (and growing) until I complete the songs.

After that I'll have to use my distinct blend of charm, wit and slight of hand to encourage your purchase.

Track Name: Cinnamon Heart
Virginia never looked this way
in the footage I saw when I was young
And now everyday I sit at my desk
drawing stick figures, how my day is spent.

And all that I want is a bakery
that I'd call my own; name it after me.
Making cupcakes and little cherry pies
and I'd put them all out for passers-by

Morning time I drink chocolate
cause I need something just a little sweet
to remind me that I might someday be
everything I had in mind once upon a time...

...moves so fast now that I'm not young.
I'm not old, I guess, but I feel that way
When I turn the key and start driving home
from this factory. One more day is done.

Moonlight falls, and I'm lying still
with my eyelids closed, playing picture shows.
A measuring cup and a rolling pin.
Piping bags always make me smile again.

And then I drift off til the thawing starts.
Til another day breaks another heart
made of cinnamon and placed on the left side
of a big bear made of gingerbread.
Track Name: Mr. Merlin (Basquiat's Esteemed Consort)
-----------
Lyrics:

All I know is all I know right now, she said out loud.
Basquiat, I know that you can't really hear me.

But I keep talking anyway,
Hoping that I will soon get through.
You call it crazy, but I call it close to you.

Mister Merlin, all these flashing lights are not enough.
Skin hunger equals wanting to be close.

But I keep talking anyway,
Hoping that I will soon get through.
You call it crazy, but I call it close to you.

Tonight I lay me down to sleep.
I pray this bed, my soul to keep.
For, if I die before I wake
I'll take my chances at the pearly picket fence,
because it's getting so tough to feel I've said enough.

All I know is all I know right now, she said out loud.
